30.01.2025 – Concert: Duo Erick Manana und Jenny Fuhr feat. Solofo // Ralah’ Trio (Madagascar)

Doors: 19 h / Concert: 19.30 h / Institut français Mainz (Schillerstraße 11, 55116 Mainz)

On 30 January, the duo Erick Manana and Jenny Fuhr will perform at the Institut français Mainz together with Solofo and Ralah’ Trio from Madagascar.

The composer, guitarist and singer Erick Manana is one of Madagascar’s most popular songwriters. For his music, he draws in particular on the soulful, melancholy melodies and rhythms of the Malagasy highlands, as well as numerous other influences from Malagasy and Francophone music. The duo with Jenny Fuhr has recently been celebrating its 15th anniversary on stage. In Mainz, the duo will perform ogether with trumpeter and violinist Solofo.

The three musical ‘brothers’ (Malagasy: Rahalahy) of Ralah’ Trio combine influences from contemporary jazz, electro, funk and pop with Malagasy music – in their own way, they draw on the rich and diverse resources of traditional and modern music genres of Madagascar. After some years of separation, Erick Manana reactivated the band for a joint tour in France in 2023. The singer-songwriter is not alone in admiring the trio’s powerful and groovy yet subtle style – the audience in Mainz also got infected during their first visit to the city in June 2024.
